The woodland is waking. It’s a joy to walk through the trees. In such difficult times, nature is a solace. I wanted to share some photographs of spring – not perfectly set up and only taken with a tablet camera, but things that spark happiness in me. The pictures are of little things, things that I see around me each year; this year I find they are even more precious than usual. I hope they bring you pleasure too and give you a glimpse into the woodland. I wish you peace this Easter time.
As I walk along, the woodland floor is dotted with beautiful flowers – from top to bottom there is wood anemone, violet (with bluebell – almost!), lesser celandine, barren strawberry and primrose.
Leaves are bursting out all around me – from the top there is sycamore, hazel, hawthorn and lords-and-ladies. The hawthorn here is growing in the root mass of a fallen oak. Each leaf has its own special colour for leaf burst – I particularly like the pure greens of the hawthorn and hazel.

Nature wins hands down with no notion of world outside itself

I love your photos. So happy to have found your blog. I am a new subscriber. I love how you took those hazelnut bulbs to nurture and plant them when they’re ready.
